For those of you that know Hundred Acre well, one of our greatest wines is Hundred Acre Precious. This is why I again chose the name Precious. The wine is aged for the same time as Hundred Acre, beside Hundred Acre in the greatest French oak money can buy. It is the glorious brother to Hundred Acre Precious Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is Earth shaking, pure magic, it’s made for you, the Hundred Acre believer.

Vintage Notes

The 2022 growing season was truly special, with plenty of winter rain to fill our reservoirs, and abundant sunshine and heat through the summer months. An unusual late season rain washed the dust off the berries, starting a gentle cooling trend that set us up perfectly for the final ripening push in the Fall. We hang fruit on the vine longer than most, and the weather conditions in 2022 allowed us time to push that envelope to the limit, resulting in wines with an intense fruit expression, and a full bodied core.

Vineyard Notes

Sourced from small, family vineyards, (in some cases for 3-4 generations) that are farmed with great care and attention. These vineyards (some are 80+ years old) have been brought together, actually woven together, so the magical fruit could at last become Fortunate Son.

Cooperage

Aged for 35 months in 100% new French oak. We only use the finest French oak barrique with stave wood that is hand-selected for ultra-tight grain, then air dried for three years before being made into barrels.

Tasting Notes

The 2022 Precious greets the senses with an inviting bouquet of black cherry, bright strawberry, and ripe plum, all intertwined with bright notes of confectioners’ sugar, meringue, and chocolate. Subtle savory undertones of cedar box and wet slate add complexity, grounding the sweeter tones with an earthy minerality. On the palate, the wine is voluptuous in texture, unfolding with waves of blue and black fruit accented by hints of spice. Fine-grained tannins and the subtle imprint of barrel toast provide a gentle grip at the core, that lends shape and volume. The finish is long and memorable, allowing the 2022 Precious to imprint itself on you, living on well beyond the last sip.
